(8-10) YTD
Admittedly, I don't like giving up this many points on the road. But I've picked some big favorites this year, and they've come through a lot more than the dogs for some reason. When you're humbled to 1-4 like I was last week, it's best to switch to what's been workin for ya!
Maryland (-34) FSU (-29)
Big points on the road to give up, but I don't care. Maryland is on a roll winning the last 2 by a combined 95-7, and FSU has outscored their opponents 133-30. Maryland's ATS record as a favorite since the Fridge arrived is well documented. FSU's defense didn't allow a TD in their first 2 ACC games (even against Maryland). They've beaten Duke by a combined 73 points the past 2 years, and I think there's no doubt that their team this year is a lot better than the past 2. (Duke is still Duke) Plus they've already had their scare against GT. Both teams seem to have little problems sleeping at night after running up the score. If they don't have any problems running it up, I don't have any problems betting on them.
Florida (-9.5) Florida is going to be in a foul mood after losing at the swamp. I expected this line to be at 14.5 or so. Kentucky can't run or stop the run. Spurrier might be gone, but we know the Gator offense is still pretty good. They know they can't lose 2 SEC games in a row, and I believe they will score early and often. The Cats are a bad team and it seems like the only reason they get any pub at all is because of their 380 lb. QB. (Yes, I know he's not really 380 lbs., it's called sarcasm.) He's 350.
Louisville (-14.5) Louisville is very offensively balanced team, and Temple is off a heartbreaking loss to Cincinnati in OT. I wonder about Temple's readiness to play. Escpecially when they get down early and they will.
Utah (+6.5)The only dog this week. I There is a revenge factor here as the Utes have not beaten the Rams in 5 years. Utah brings in a 3-0 ATS record, which makes me kind of wary, as a lot of teams don't go 4-0 ATS. The Utes QB is inexperienced, but they have a good ground game to fall back on, or else I would give them no shot. They have also had 16 days to prepare, and CSU is off an embarrassing home 20 pt. loss to Miami (Ohio). Note: I am not dissing the MAC here, we all know the MAC is now a respectable conference, but a 20 point loss at home to Miami (Ohio) still doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.
The only MAC that would deserve to be dissed on this site is Coach Mac of Arizona. And he thought his players were embarrassments to their families last year. Arizona players and their families take note: You are making a lot of people very proud of you this year. Cha-Ching!!!
Good luck to all.
